Identifying cases
Exactly like single units, cases must also be identified with a unique number. Product variations and changes to the packaging size will require the use of a unique number to identify it separately. At this level, further information such as a batch number or expiry date can be added to the bar code or tag and read. These numbers can also be used in electronic communications.
